HELLO AND WELCOME!

Whether you have stopped in to look at my current work, shop for an original for your home (commissioned or otherwise) look at my small studies section to find that perfect gift.... or maybe you are an aspiring artist looking to join in on one of my destination plein air adventures, I'm so glad you're here.  Please drop me a line with any questions or comments you might have for me.

This is me posing in front of a recent studio painting.  I sell prints of this one - you can find that on the site.

Painting on location in the Great Bear Rainforest.  I'm completely in my happy place painting outdoors in these beautiful places!

Travelling to painting locations  via boat to explore the Salt Spring Islands in British Columbia. I have SO much fun!

I had a chance to paint in the Bugaboos via helicopter (helipainting! :))  It was pretty glorious.  Who knew such places existed!

Painting on location near Bamfield BC, and trying to beat the tide!

Instructing in Italy in 2022 in a small hilled village.  What a joy to share this adventure with a keen group of students!

Here I am teaching in Santa Barbara CA.  When visiting these places, I also block out time to explore and take some intensive private painting time.

This top photo is painting in Italy - I'm going back next year, and on the bottom is me painting in a local location on a fine day with a painting friend.  Is there anything better?

TESTIMONIALS

what Gayes clients are saying.....

"Gaye’s commissioned piece of art for my husband and I is the centrepiece of our home. We’d seen a piece of hers that we loved and she re-created it with specific changes to our taste (made the seagulls blend in more and added more light to the painting than there’d been in the original). We would love to work with her again! "

Hailey and Matt Fernandez, Vancouver BC

"As it was my first time commissioning a painting, I was surprised to learn that you choose the format, and size. Gaye used an app that showed how the painting would look on my walls, which made me confident in my decisions. Once you have a vision of the painting you want, Gaye works with you all the way to make it come to fruition. The magic comes when you let Gaye’s artistic talent loose. My painting went far beyond my wildest imaginings. She is a master at catching the dancing light. Gaye is truly talented. I highly recommend her services."

What Gaye's students are saying....

"Gaye is a fabulous teacher and mentor!  I feel extremely fortunate to have found her when I first started oils as she was instrumental in guiding me through each step of the way from beginner to recently attaining my Signature Status with the FCA.  She is one of the best:  knowledgeable, respectful, encouraging, and supportive. "

 - Leslie Lendvoy, Vancouver, BC

"Dedicated and talented with a wealth of experience, Gaye is truly master artist and teacher. Through her workshops, she was able to demystify plein air for me, breaking it down into very do-able steps, that I still follow. I’m no longer intimidated by getting out and painting outdoors. It was through my very fortunate opportunity to work in a mentorship with Gaye that I credit my most significant leap of improvement. "

MY PLEIN AIR PRACTICE HAS BECOME A VITAL PART OF MY JOURNEY AS A PAINTER...FROM THE MOUNTAIN PEAKS TO THE SEASHORES AND FORESTS, I NEVER TIRE OF PAINTING THE NATURAL WORLD AND HER ILLUSIVE LIGHT AND ATMOSPHERE.  AND WHERE BETTER TO STUDY IT, THAN WHEN IMMERSED IN IT?

I CULTIVATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPENDING TIME PAINTING ON LOCATION, AS IT NOT ONLY FEEDS MY SOUL, BUT INFORMS MY LARGER STUDIO PIECES.  IT IS MY FOND HOPE THAT MY TIME STUDYING NATURE AND BEING IMMERSED IN SOME OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR AND UNSPOILED LANDSCAPES ON THE PLANET, SHOWS IN MY LARGER WORKS.  I WANT TO SHARE MY SENSE OF AWE, AND TAKE THE VIEWER FOR THE RIDE.
